Rev. Hillary: False Prophet

20 03 2007

If you haven’t seen/heard Hillary’s performance down in Selma a few weeks ago, I suggest you check it out. It was perhaps the most pandering speech of the young 2008 campaign. We all know Hillary likes hearing herself speak, but this bit was over the top. She suddenly found that Southern accent of hers, and quoted from the James Cleveland song, “I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired.” The only thing Reverend Hillary was missing was a sweat rag and the “ha-tahs” of the great black preachers she was trying to emulate. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Hillary likely never heard of the song til the speech was handed to her, and the fact that no media called her out on such an obviously staged performance calls into question how much analysis they’re really doing. I’d like to see President Bush go to a church, quote scripture to back his ideas, and see what happens. Barry Lynn & Co. would likely call for articles of impeachment, but Hillary is called a masterful communicator.

Of course her sermon was intended to firm up support among the black community since one of their own, Barack Obama, is running. Why blacks would have blind allegiance to Hillary defies common sense. The love affair (pardon the pun) they have with her husband is one likely reason, but that gets them nowhere. All kinds of efforts are made to assuage black doubts about the Democrats but for all their promises little is done. If the community is banking on another Clinton to solve 40 years worth of turmoil within the community, they’ve traded truth for yet another lie.
